There's no rule that says furniture has to be complicated to look good. By reducing the furniture designs to their basic components, then using simple construction techniques, anyone can build quality furniture. With basic tools (jigsaw, miter saw and a cordless drill) beginning woodworkers will be able to create a piece of furniture in a weekend that will fit proudly in any home.
Each of the furniture designs have been adapted to accomodate standard poplar, red oak or pine boards easily found at home center stores. With the boards already cut to thickness and width, all that's required is cutting the pieces to length and assembling.

About the Author
David Thiel started woodworking at an early age in his father’s woodworking business. After college and a degree in English literature and journalism, he ultimately opened his own custom woodworking shop. In the mid-90’s he found a blending of worlds, working for Popular Woodworking Magazine as an editor, builder and tool reviewer.
