Blu Dot has been around since 1997 – a modern furniture company started by three friends. John Christakos, Charles Lazor, and Maurice Blanks met at Williams College grads and were frustrated about the lack of affordable modern furniture available in the market place. They began with a few distinctive pieces that are now recognizably BluDot signatures. These have grown into an entire collection. Their hefty catalog is worthy of competing in size with any hackneyed Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware catalog that we continue to get in the mail.
In 2005 I purchased four RealGood Chairs in black for our dining room — I love how architectural and sculptural they looked. Here are a few of my other favorite BluDot pieces.
