Native to southern Asia, the roots of the turmeric plant have been used medicinally for thousands of years. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant that also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Fresh turmeric has a taste similar to ginger and can be used to make a healthy and tasty juice.
Blend the Root
Start with about five pieces of fresh turmeric root. After washing the root, put it through your juicer at least once. Putting the pulp back through the juicer a second or even third time will ensure that you get all the nutrients from the root into your juice. If you don't have a juicer, it's possible to use a blender or food processor. Pour the turmeric juice into a pitcher. Use a piece of cheesecloth to strain out the remaining pulp if desired.
Add Lemons
Peel one to two lemons, depending on your taste. Add lemons to the juicer. If using a food processor or blender, pour the lemon juice into the pitcher, using a piece of cheesecloth or fine strainer to eliminate the pulp and any seeds.

Pour in Warm Water
While the juicer is still running, pour a half-cup of warm water through the chute. If using a blender or food processor, add a half-cup of warm water to the juice pitcher.
Add Sweetener and Cold Water
Stir about 2 tablespoons of raw honey into the juice pitcher, or use more or less depending on desired taste. Then add 1 to 2 cups of cold water to the juicer or pitcher, depending on taste. Serve over ice. Store excess juice in the refrigerator, but consume it within the next two to three days or risk having it spoil.
