Home Remedies for a Glowing Face With Carrot Juice

You probably know carrots are nutritional powerhouses, filled with antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins A and C. The health benefits of carrots aren't limited to your diet, however. You can use the juice and pulp of this root vegetable to create natural, homemade facial masks that will leave your complexion glowing, help heal pimples and sores, plump up skin cells for a younger appearance and slow down the signs of aging caused by free radicals and environmental damage.

Carrot Juice and Mash

You can purchase carrot juice and mashed, jarred carrots at health stores and many supermarkets, but it's not difficult to make your own. For carrot juice, you need a juicer or food processor. Feed washed, peeled carrots into the hopper and collect the resulting juice in a clean glass or jar. For mashed carrots, peel them and then steam them over boiling water for five to ten minutes until they are soft. Use a fork to mash the carrots to a creamy consistency. Store the carrot juice and mash in the refrigerator, where they will stay good for several days (See Reference 1).

For Dry Skin

Skin that is dry and tight feels itchy and ages your appearance. Carrots, combined with other natural hydrators, bring back moisture to your skin, leaving it comforted, glowing and healthy-looking. Naturalities recommends the following mask to bring back the glow to dull skin. Mix together one-quarter cup of mashed carrots, one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, two tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of olive oil. Smooth the mixture over your clean, dry face, and relax for 30 minutes. Rinse the mask off with warm water and pat dry (See Reference 1). Your skin will be smooth and glowing.

For Reddened Skin

If over-the-counter acne medications or other irritants have left your skin reddened, try a natural treatment. Naturalities suggests a soothing mask that's almost good enough to eat. Combine one boiled, mashed carrot with one boiled, mashed potato and add a tablespoon of ground oatmeal. Let the mask cool to room temperature, then spread it over your face. Relax for half an hour while the blend comforts your skin and helps relieve redness, then wash the mask off with warm water (See Reference 1).

For Mature Skin

Years of sun, smoking and exposure to air pollution take their toll on your complexion. If your skin is showing signs of aging, such as fine lines, loss of elasticity, dullness, or dry patches or flakes, a carrot mask can help restore a younger appearance. Dr Oz recommends an inexpensive, simple mask to restore and tighten aging skin. Mix three egg whites with three tablespoons of carrot juice. Use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to your face, avoiding your mouth and eyes. Do not eat any of the mixture or lick it from your lips. Relax for 15 minutes before rinsing the mask away with warm water. Your skin will look healthier, refreshed and renewed (See Reference 2).
