Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) or Bandung Insitute of Technology or Institute of technology Bandung, was founded on March 2, 1959. The present ITB main campus is the site of earlier engineering schools in Indonesia. Although these institutions of higher learning had their own individual characteristics and missions, they left influence on developments leading to the establishment of ITB.

- Work visa: During study foreign students are not allowed to work.
- Employment upon graduation: There is no such issue of visa after graduation like USA or Japan. But like other foreigners, recently graduated students can get working visa if he gets an offer letter from a company in Indonesia. Companies in Indonesia have to get approval from government to recruit international students.
- Work environment: As Indonesians have a very strong group-oriented mentality, they usually work better when given a team goal rather an individual target. Subordinates are expected to follow instructions and not to argue with their superiors, no matter how flawed the instructions are.
