How Many Calories Are in Pomegranate Juice?

Pomegranates are tropical fruit with a thick outer rind and small, juicy seeds inside. The seeds are often squeezed for their juice, which is bright red, sweet and tangy. Pomegranate juice is a good source of calories from carbohydrates.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture states that a 1-cup serving of pomegranate juice delivers 139 calories. About 132 calories come from carbohydrates, 6 calories come from fats and approximately 1 calorie comes from protein.

Daily Intake

A 1-cup portion of pomegranate juice can serve as just under 7 percent of the total recommended caloric intake for the average adult each day. This value is based on a typical diet of 2,000 calories per day.

Components

The USDA also states that a 1-cup serving of pomegranate juice weighs 250 g. 33g are carbohydrates, about 0.7 g are fats and 0.4 g are proteins. The remainder comprises indigestible matter, water and other nutrients

Nutrients

Pomegranate juice also contains several important vitamins including vitamin K, folate, vitamin E and pantothenic acid. Dietary minerals within the juice include potassium, manganese, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and copper.
