Welcome to the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest!

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest covers more than 1.5 million acres of Wisconsin's Northwoods. The Chequamegon side of the forest covers about 858,400 acres in Ashland, Bayfield, Sawyer, Price, Taylor and Vilas counties while the Nicolet side covers nearly 661,400 acres in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida and Vilas counties. Where is the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest?

Winter Recreation - Cross Country Skiing

Winter recreation trails on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest are open and ready for visitors.
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest offers 20 cross-country ski trails. These trails include numerous loops of varying distances providing an opportunity for skiers of all experience levels. The trails are packed, groomed and have tracks set on a regular basis by either the Forest Service or through agreements with local ski clubs and other entities.
Each week throughout the winter recreation season the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest will be posting a weekly Cross-Country Ski Report with the latest conditions on the trails. This report can be found at http://go.usa.gov/FKvG.
