Abstract: The aim of this article is to show the opportunities for penetration of newrenewable energy sources into the Brazilian energy mix, enabling it to continue generating a high quantity of clean energy compared to the world average. Different scenarios for the evolution of such sources in Brazil and in the world were analyzed within the 2010–2030 horizon. The study showed not only the benefits brought by these sources in terms of GHG emission avoidance but also the impact in terms of employment creation and the public investment necessary to obtain such benefits.
