Brazil is the greatest sugarcane producer in the world, grinding approximately 640 million tons per year, highlighting the Southeastern region with more than 60% of the total planted area. Due to the territorial dimensions of the country and to the fact that sugarcane is present in practically all Brazilian regions, the diversity of weeds species in this crop is very large. Chemical control is the most commonly used method in the sugarcane crop, due to its efficiency, presenting high yield, and its low cost when compared to other methods, and due to the commecialization of several efficient herbicides registered for this crop. However, chemical control can have an impact on the environment. In Brazil, sugarcane is grown in different planting and harvesting systems, thus, depending on the adopted system, there can be change in the composition of weed species, which can influence its management in the crop.
